The Waters Edge at Ewen Wedding Photography - Tom + Laura

Another new venue this year, the Waters Edge at Ewen and what a lovely wedding venue this is! Situated in rural Gloucestershire close to the village of Kemble, the venue sits close to the River Thames and has several large ponds throughout the well manicured gardens. It was Tom & Laura’s wishes to have an outside ceremony near the waters edge and their wish was granted on an extremely warm summers day!

I arrived a couple of hours before the ceremony to get a feel for the venue although I visited in late spring it looked so different with all the tress in leaf against the beautiful blue skies.  Laura was getting ready with the bridemaids in the bridal suite which even had a wall hook for the dress to be hung - perfect! The bar was being setup and the dining room looked magnificent with the tables fully laid ready for the wedding breakfast.

Tom arrived in a TukTuk (another first for me) with his best man and despite the very warm weather, they kept their jackets on to greet the arriving guests. I sneaked away and called Kemble Air Traffic Control to get permission to fly the drone which was duly granted subject to a previously agreed height restriction. The venue is very close to the end of the runway so all the necessary paperwork has been submitted previously. This gave me some fantastic drone pictures of the wedding ceremony area from the air which are just impossible to get from ground level.

The outdoor ceremony took place along with a confetti walk along the outside ‘aisle’ before the couple headed for the drinks reception. The large ponds adjacent to the area provided a lovely backdrop for photos which meant most of the group shots were taken there.  Speeches took place before the meal which were followed by a waiter accidentally falling over! That meant one thing, Singing Waiters!

The guests headed outside to enjoy the warm summers evening along with the provided garden games which gave me another opportunity to take the couple for some evening photos down towards the ponds. This led nicely into the first dance performed by a local band and along with some dancing afterwards which brought my work at the wedding to a close.
