Coombe Lodge is a stunning detached country house just situated 15 miles south west of Bristol amongst the rolling countryside of the Chew Valley. It has capacity for up to 160 wedding guests and subject to weather, weddings can take place in the outdoor Courtyard. Indoor weddings take place in the Music Room with views across to Blagdon Lake.

The property was formerly owned by the Wills family (as in Wills Tobacco) and was built over 4 years from 1928-1932. Coombe Lodge was their family home for over 30 years and was built on the foundations of a much older property dating back as far as 1759. It was previously used as a staff training college before being taken over by the current owners who transformed it into the beautiful venue you see today. It still retains the elegance of its past with the limed oak panelling found on the staircase and throughout the ground floor.

The nearby St Andrews Church at Blagdon is also a favourite with couples who want a Church wedding and is just 10 minutes drive from Coombe Lodge.

Gardens and grounds offer further fantastic photo opportunities whatever the time of year. With a mixture of tree lined pathways and secret gardens, there is always something colourful to see regardless of the time of year.

WHY COOMBE LODGE IS PERFECT FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

There are a number of reasons why Coombe Lodge is perfect for wedding photography. The large bridal suite is a fantastic room for getting ready and features a large bay window. We always try to get a photo of the bride & bridesmaids/family in the bay window with the beautiful countryside view behind. The wide staircase is also a great feature and lends itself perfectly for photos whatever the weather.

Courtyard photographs are always popular and ideal for confetti. Further grassed areas extend around the building and lead to a set of classic outdoor steps that we always use for a photo opportunity with the main house behind. Lower gardens are always worth exploring as are the potting sheds with their softly lit pathways at night. The fields beyond, (not only useful for landing if you're arriving by helicopter ;) also make a great place for an evening sunset photo!

There are numerous indoor/outdoor photo opportunities at Coombe Lodge which is why it is one of our favourite wedding venues.
