Old Down Manor is a 66 acre country park situated north of Thornbury within South Gloucestershire. It has two venues onsite to cater for all sizes of weddings, in the Manor House or the rustic Barn and its size and versatility means its an all season all weather venue.

At the rear of the Manor House, the gardens have stunning unspoilt views over South Gloucestershire towards the River Severn. These lend themselves to beautiful cinematic portraits as well as having plenty of enclosed, secret garden for intimate portraits. In addition there is a small lake just a just short walk from the gardens which is a favourite place for photos any time of year.

WHY OLD DOWN MANOR IS PERFECT FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

Where do we start! The imposing entrance as you walk in to the Manor House has a number of features we’ve used over the years. The magnificent staircase and balcony together with the impressive chandelier provide a beautiful place for a quiet couple portrait. We’ve also used the balcony with the children from a wedding to drop confetti on the newlyweds when the weather was a little less than favourable outside.

The light and airy dining area is fantastic for the wedding breakfast with plenty of space for guests and a small adjoining sitting room just perfect for a few moments of quiet relaxation. These provide great opportunities for informal documentary photos of the couple of their guests.

The grounds are simply superb for photos with the distant views towards the Severn and on a warm sunny summer evening, the sunsets in the distance making it perfect for a couple sunset portrait.

Well tended gardens lead down a small lake which makes for the beautiful location for the formal couple photos. In summer, the surrounding long grass is also a feature and we’ve used the rural backdrop for beautiful couple portraits.
