Shaftesbury Wedding Photography - Luke + Penny

Penny & Luke travelled over from Australia for their wedding in Shaftesbury followed by a marquee reception.

The couple met at Luke’s sister’s birthday in 2016 and started dating and the rest is history – it’s been super lovely as both of our families know each other making family events that extra bit easier and special!

Luke proposed on a bush walk in December. It was a walk that I had wanted to do for a while and Luke kept it up his sleeve for the proposal. We were walking along when Luke told me to stop – I initially thought there was a snake or something in the path, he asked me to turn around and had a glint in his eye, that’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

What were you most excited for on your wedding day?

Having so many of our family and friends from across the world in one place, to celebrate us getting married – it is something we are going to cherish forever, and something we have dreamed of for a very long time!! But also, I couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle and see Luke for the first time before we became Husband and Wife.

Why did you choose that venue?

We decided to get married at the Church I grew up in, Luke was happy to get married there as all of my sister’s had been married there prior. We then had a marquee back at my parents house, a typical English country wedding with a beautiful outlook over The Downs, something so picturesque and not something our Australian family and guests would have experienced!

What were your favourite parts of the day?

Everything!! Getting married – it was a really special moment for us, but also the speeches and partying/dancing – our first dance – which was choreographed and when Luke trod on my dress and my train dropped down I knew it would be a lot harder – but we laugh about it! Honestly – too hard to pick any parts we loved everything!

Any other tips for future couples?

Don’t stress the small stuff and enjoy the lead up to the day, everyone says it, the day flies by and don’t try to control every minute of the day just go with the flow, plus make sure you book Rich and Lisa to be your photographers they are truly the best photographers and helped make our day the perfect day!
