Cadbury House Wedding Photography - Nigel + Gemma

We first met Gemma at her sister’s wedding 7 years ago so it was a great honour to be asked to photograph her wedding after meeting here such a long time ago!

The couple met at the gym where Nigel was a personal trainer. He proposed on holiday in Croatia in 2019. Gemma said “Nigel was insistent on getting a ferry boat over to Venice for the day (It’s a 3-hour trip each way!). We went on a gondola trip whilst we were there and Nigel took the ring out of his pocket and proposed! It wasn’t the typical down on one knee proposal as we were on a gondola and would probably have capsized haha! It was lovely, very much like a rom com film!!”

I asked what they were looking forward to on their wedding day and Gemma said:
“Family and friends bring all together following a really tough few year of lockdowns. We all needed a good party and to celebrate being together. I was also very excited to finally see our DIY decorations on display after having spent so much time planning and preparing the day”

Why did you choose that venue?
“A boring answer but we had a lot of family and friends coming from all across the UK and from abroad so we knew we needed somewhere that was able to accommodate guests staying over and also easy to get to!”

What were your favourite parts of the day?
“Seeing family and friends together as we haven’t seen a lot of them during the past few years. Being able to spend time together albeit in small doses during the day, and also making sure we got the right shots with both of you as although the day was lovely but the photos are what lasts a lifetime!”

Any advice for future couples?
“Have a snack bag available!! We were so busy speaking with guests that we barely ate and this caught up with us come the evening! Make sure you fully communicate with the venue, even if you feel annoying! There were some aspects that went a little wrong on our day and I don’t think this would have happened if I had all the meetings I wanted to with the venue. Do what you both want, even if parents or guests try to get involved, if you don’t like it don’t do it!”
