Kingscote Barn Wedding Photography - Billy + Mel

My first visit this year (but not the last!) back to Kingscote Barn for Billy & Mel’s wedding. Previously booked for 2020, COVID played a part in their wedding having to be postponed.

The outdoor seating for the ceremony was in the final stages of being setup when I arrived and it had be moved from its usual place outside the Linhay to accommodate the extra space required between the seats. A visit to Mel who was getting ready in the newly renovated bridal suite, showed how much room there is in the new room. Instead of being above the main office, it’s been moved to the room the groom/best men used to occupy and has had a complete makeover. A feature is the huge floor to ceiling mirror and the makeup stations, easily accommodating the 4 bridesmaids.

The couples dog, Jasper made an excited appearance which made for some great photos with his little waistcoat and tie. I was live-streaming the wedding so made some time to set up the video cameras, taking into account the fact that they were going to step inside the main building for the legal part of the ceremony before stepping outside again.

With the guests gathered and Billy and his best man and ushers waiting, Mel was ‘fashionably’ late for the ceremony which was followed by an indoor drinks reception due to a little rain. That delayed the proceedings for a while but as soon as the skies cleared we were back out for the confetti photos and some informal group shots. The wedding breakfast preceded the speeches which were excellent, including some lovely words from Billy’s mum; it’s not often that I’ve heard a grooms mother speak but her speech was excellent with not a dry eye in the house after that one!

The band Cocoa Magic kicked off the evening (with outside dancing of course), the pizza oven was fired up, a magician appeared and a pop-up casino proved very popular!

We finished off the evening with some styled photos before leaving the couple to party the night away.
