priston mill wedding photography

Priston Mill is just 7 miles from Bath and sits amid rolling countryside. It is actually two venues in one, The Tythe Barn and the Watermill and we are fortunate to have worked at both over the years.

Watermill

The building is spread over three floors with the ground floor entrance housing the working water wheel with all of its cog and gears visible which can also be viewed from above through the clear glass floor panels. The first floor consists of comfy seating areas and a bar area with steps leading up to the second floor which is where the wedding ceremony usually takes place. The high vaulted ceiling makes it a bright welcoming room as well as it opening up onto the decked patio area. This has a view over the water and the adjoining gardens. The room also doubles as the evening reception where you can party the night away!

Tythe barn

This lovely venue is accessed via a stone archway then through the beautifully manicured gardens and a lavender lined path on the approach to the building. The ground make an excellent place for formal and informal photos as does the large terrace at the front of the barn. The Tythe Barn Parlour is the main entrance for the wedding ceremonies and its a large room filled with sofas, chairs and a wood burning stove. It’s used for drinks receptions if you don't fancy venturing outside and there’s plenty of space for all the guests.

The barn is a spectacular, spacios venue with its high vaulted ceiling, picture windows and a mezzanine area for guests relaxation or a wedding ceremony.

Why the Watermill is perfect for wedding photography

The gardens surrounding the watermill offer plenty of space for guests to relax and enjoy a drink after the ceremony. Within the grouds there is a small private garden area with wooden seats, patio with tables and chairs and a wooden pergola for outside ceremonies. All of the areas mentioned have been used for couple photos, family and group pictures. The paths are lit at night which is a favourite spot for evening photos along with the rear wooden decking adjacent to the top floor.

Why the Tythe Barn is perfect for wedding photography

The Mazzini level offers us an excellent opportunity for discrete guest & photos, not only during the ceremony but also the speeches and evening party. Theres always plenty of room for us to circulate for inside picture and the windows help bring in natural light meaning less use of flash for daytime events, The gardens are beautiful and back on to fields which we’ve used for couple photos in the past. There is no shortage of outside places for photograph, including the adults playground which always makes for some great action photos!
