Aldwick Estate Wedding Photography – Ally & Harriet

How did you meet?
We met whilst working at a primary school. I had already been working there for a year when Ally joined a year later. We went on our first date within a few month… though it did take a little bit of time for Ally to realise I was ‘the one’

Where was the proposal?
At home on my birthday. Ally was cooking paella for my birthday dinner and he came over to give me my gifts. He pulled out some red wine and haribo sweets from a Sainsburys bag along with a ring box. Inside was a diamond from his Nan’s engagement ring. He did get down on one knee and it was made even more special as our first born, who was only 9 months old at the time, was there too.

What were you most excited for on your wedding day?
Being able to see all our loved ones in one place for one big party! It was so nice to be able to have the big wedding we had orginally planned! I have a ridiculously huge family and together we have lots of friends and we wanted everyone there that we loved and to all have a great time together.

Why did you choose that venue?
Aldwick falls in the middle of where us and both our parents live which gave it a nice connection for us. We also loved how it could host a large amount of people, even if it did rain and had accomodation site. The surrounding countryside is just stunning too and obviously the fact it’s a vineyard with amazing wine was also a big selling point.

What were your favourite parts of the day?
For me, walking down the aisle was definitely one of my favourite parts. I felt nervous but at the same time was so excited to see everyone for the first time. Ally also enjoyed greeting everyone at the church and, as nerve wracking as it is, the wedding part! The Speeches were also brilliant!

Any other tips for future couples?
Make sure you savour the day. When it comes to planning the wedding – don’t overthink the smaller details! The amount of time I spent thinking and re-thinking about table arrangements, the welcome sign, the design on the wedding invite, even the look of the place names on the tables! In the long run, no one remembers that stuff and you certainly don’t think about it on the day. Everything just falls into place and as long as you’re both having a good time, that’s what matters the most.
